How often should you clean your makeup brushes? Learn how to care for them to make them last longer

Many women use their favorite makeup brushes, but often overlook a crucial aspect: cleaning and maintenance. Failure to clean makeup brushes can not only affect the makeup's effect but also breed bacteria, potentially harming the skin.

So, how often should they be cleaned?

Brushes that come into contact with liquid or cream products, such as foundation and concealer brushes, should ideally be cleaned weekly.

Powder-based brushes, such as eyeshadow and blush brushes, can be cleaned every two weeks to one month.

To clean, use warm water with a small amount of mild shampoo or a dedicated brush cleaning solution. Gently rub the brush along the bristles, then rinse thoroughly with clean water. Be careful not to allow water to seep into the metal tube and handle, as this may cause the glue to dislodge.

After cleaning, blot with a clean towel and air dry in a cool, dark place, avoiding direct sunlight.

Properly caring for makeup brushes not only prolongs their lifespan but also helps maintain a clean, natural-looking look. Remember, makeup brushes are part of your skincare routine; don't let dirty brushes ruin your beautiful skin.
